The Dance Studio at Lifesong is committed to high quality, professional instruction in a nurturing and encouraging atmosphere. We consider it a privilege to be a part of the lives and journey of our dancers. Whether you’re dancing for fun or competition, our staff is here to encourage you, inspire you and give you the tools to reach your goals, while instilling a love and appreciation for the art of dance!

Initial placement in dance classes is determined at registration and is based on the student’s age, experience and ability. Staff will evaluate students during the first few weeks of class to ensure proper placement. In the regular season (mid-August through May), enrollment is open for combo classes (Ballet & Tap; BTJ) through September in the fall semester and again in January for the spring semester. Enrollment is open for all other dance classes through January, pending evaluation and class availability.

Ballet & Tap Combo for ages 2-5

BALLET & TAP COMBO is a fun class designed for ages 2-5. By introducing and developing the basic skills, terminology and movement of ballet and tap (all in a fun and disciplined environment), we hope to inspire our young dancers toward a life-long love of dance!

Ballet, Tap & Jazz Combo (BTJ) for K-1st grades

BALLET, TAP & JAZZ is a the next step (or beginning step) for dancers in Kindergarten through 1st grade. Our BTJ classes are designed to develop a love and appreciation for dance while growing in ballet, tap and jazz basic techniques. Having fun, developing dance and social skills while learning to work together in a positive, supportive and encouraging environment is our goal and commitment.

Ballet Classes

BALLET is an important foundation for success in all styles of dance. We encourage all dancers to train in ballet! Our ballet classes are leveled according to a specific syllabus and progression through the levels varies on each student individually. Students are placed in classes based on experience and age. Our goal is to equip them with the proper training to advance through our classical ballet syllabus. Historically students advance based on their participation and absorption of the material along with how they implement corrections. A good work ethic, a positive attitude and focus are important for success and continued growth.

PRE-POINTE & POINTE: Advanced ballet classes geared for the serious, technical dancer.

* Dancers taking Pre-Pointe, Pointe, Ballet 3 and 4 are required to take at least 2 other ballet classes per week.

Level 4 GET CREATIVE & GET SMART
Level 4 is for dancers who have learned and grown in the skills necessary to be successful as a competitive and/or professional dancer. This is the time to make it artistic and personal. Designed for ages 13-18.

Level 4A … adv 13-15 yrs
Level 4B … adv 15-18 yrs

Technique/Conditioning and Drill Team Classes

TECHNIQUE classes are leveled according to the skills and needs of each dancer. Classes consist of stretching, conditioning, leaps, turns and progressions that are a part of improving each dancer’s overall skill set, specifically in jazz and contemporary.

CONDITIONING is a class designed to build core strength, stamina, endurance and flexibility.

DRILL TEAM is designed for MS/HS dancers and consists of leaps, turns, kicks and drill team techniques needed for school dance teams.

Lyrical Classes

LYRICAL (also known as contemporary) is a dance style that combines elements of ballet with the freedom, fluidity and expressiveness of jazz and contemporary choreography. Contemporary gives dancers the opportunity to express emotion and execute technique.

Our Adult Hip Hop class will be 2 times per month on Saturdays from 12-1pm. Please note that your enrollment in your parent portal will show meeting every week from 12-12:30pm ... this is in order for the tuition to calculate correctly. 

JOYFUL Dance (think Special Olympics for dance!)

NEW in Season 16! We are so excited about our new special and JOYFUL dance class for ages 6 & up taught by certified special education teacher Jennifer Cooper.

Recitals

CHRISTMAS RECITAL FOR COMBO CLASSES
Saturday, December 18, 2021 / LifeStage Theatre at Lifesong Studio

Our annual Christmas Recital for Ballet & Tap and Ballet, Tap, Jazz (BTJ) combo classes takes place at LifeStage Theatre typically on the last Saturday of classes in December before the break. The Christmas Recital is a fun celebration of the holidays and all our young dancers have accomplished in the fall semester. Christmas Recital Fees and Costume Fees are due October 1 and are non-refundable. The costume fee ($79) not only cover the cost of the actual costume, but also other behind-the-scenes expenses and administrative tasks associated with the recital. The recital fee ($25) helps cover costs such as theatre usage, programs, staff, etc.

Allen Performing Arts Center

Our Spring Dance Recital is the event our dancers work toward throughout the entire year. Although participation is not mandatory, it is strongly encouraged as the recital is a great opportunity for students and allows them to fully experience the benefit of all their hours of training and gives friends and family the opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments. The costume fees not only cover the cost of the actual costume, but also other behind-the-scenes expenses and administrative tasks associated with the recital. Costume fees for Pre-Ballet, Ballet & Tap and BTJ Combo classes are $79/each and costume fees for individual subject classes are $89/each. Costume fees are due mid-January and are non-refundable. The recital fee ($75) is due April 1 and helps cover costs such as venue rental, staffing and other fees assosicated with the recital.
